Growing Up a Girl: How Worldly Sexuality Speaks Lies (8th-12th grades)
The culture is always preaching a complex system of values on sexuality, girlhood, and the good life. The prevailing worldview on social media, streaming platforms, music, and the news has been largely accepted, even within many churches. “Live your truth,” “love is love,” “be a boss girl.” A biblical worldview is increasingly understood as not only out of step with these messages but also oppressive and outdated. Believers need to understand how to apply the clarity and compassion of the gospel of Christ to the current cultural messages driving sexual ethics today.
This talk discusses the following:
- Consider why girls are are leaving the church after they graduate from high school and enter college;
- Identify three key “sexual scripts” of the modern world;
- Identify four major cultural lies about sexuality and being a young woman, and consider how to evaluate them biblically;
- Consider two ways we must speak into our culture with grace and compassion.

We Need to Talk about Sex and the Gospel (8th-12th grades)
The church has taken steps in recent years to preach, teach, and disciple people about sex, sexuality, and gender. While the secular approach to all things LGBTQ+ seems to have a surround-sound cultural influence, God’s Word alone speaks with hope, clarity, and practical help for young women. Sexual sin, and confusion about sex and identity aren’t just issues “out there” but in here, among God’s people, including women and girls. God’s daughters need encouragement, comfort, and equipping to know how to think biblically through the wisdom of God’s Word.
This talk discusses the following:
- Key ways that speaking openly and honestly about sexual struggles helps girls and women, because sexuality is a discipleship issue among many!
- An overview of how girls are impacted by sexual sin: as they pursue it personally, and as they are sinned against sexually;
- How the gospel brings hope, clarity, and a path forward for girls and young women in a confusing world.
